How to Live in the End Times
1 Peter 4:7-11
Pastor Gary Barber

Review the service.

  • What stuck out to you?
  • What parts did you enjoy?

Read Matthew 24:1-14

  • What will happen in the end times?
  • How will people act?
  • What are Christians called to do?
  • What are we to avoid?

Read 1 Peter 4:7-8

  • What does it mean to be of sound judgement?
  • What does it mean to have a sober spirit ?
  • What is the purpose or goal of these?

PG said - Avoid conspiracy theories, read the Bible, focus on Jesus and His words.

  • Are you prone to conspiracy theories?
  • How can you combat conspiracy theories and the draw of secret knowledge with God’s word?

Peter says that love covers a multitude of sins. This means to stretch.

  • How does your love as a Christian for others stretch you?
  • Where do you need to stretch more?
  • How have you seen love cover sin?
  • What does that look like practically?

1 Peter 4:9 “Be hospitable to one another without complaint.”

  • How are you hospitable to others?
  •  How can you increase or become greater in your hospitality?
  • How are you hospitable with your life and sharing your life with others?
  • What are you prone to complain about?
  • What type of complainer are you?
  • Are you willing to do the 24hr challenge of not complaining but instead rejoicing?

Read Philippians 4:4-5: Pick a day or time or report on how it went if you already tried it out.

Philippians 4:4-5 says rejoice always and let your gentle spirit be known to all men.

  • How is that different from our culture?
  • How would that be attractive to our culture?
  • How are you using your gift/s?
  • What is your gift?
  • How are you serving the church?
  • How are you serving unbelievers?

PRAYER: Pray and ask God to activate your gifts, to rejoice more and complain less, and to be hospitable in the coming days for the sake of the gospel. End in prayer for your FRANCES. Think about how you can be hospitable to those you are praying for in the coming days.
