Read together: Ephesians 4:17–24

1. What stood out to you most from Sunday’s message, and why?

2. The sermon described discipleship as following Jesus closely enough to be “covered in the dust of your Rabbi.” What would it look like for someone to see evidence in your everyday life that you have been with Jesus?

3. Paul says to “put off your old self” and “put on the new self.” What is one attitude, habit, or pattern that Jesus may be asking you to put off right now? What might you need to put on in its place?

4. We talked about how the world is constantly discipling us through our phones, entertainment, advertising, money, busyness, and cultural expectations. Where do you think you are being formed most strongly by the “current” of our culture without realizing it?

5. Jesus said, “Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness” (Matthew 6:33). If someone looked honestly at your time and attention from the last seven days, what would they conclude you are seeking first?

6. Now ask the same question about money. What do your spending, saving, giving, and possessions reveal about what you value, trust, or fear?

7. The sermon used the picture of climbing Half Dome: transformation requires intentionally grabbing onto something that can pull us in a different direction. What is one concrete practice you could grab onto this week to help form you into the likeness of Jesus? Examples might include Scripture before your phone, a social-media limit, Sabbath/rest, generosity, budgeting, prayer, silence, hospitality, or intentionally being present with people.

8. Where does following Jesus currently feel like swimming against the current for you? How can this group help you stay faithful rather than simply drifting?

Close in prayer:
Have each person name one thing to put off and one thing to put on this week. Pray for one another specifically, asking the Holy Spirit to give you the power to actually live the way of Jesus—not merely agree with it.
