Day 6 - Faith Begins With Listening

Romans 10:17 (NLT)

"So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ."

John 4:21–24 (NLT)

Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

We spend a lot of time talking.

We share opinions, tell stories, make requests, and fill quiet spaces with conversation.

But how often do we simply listen?

Romans 10:17 teaches that faith comes through hearing the Good News about Christ.

That means our faith isn't strengthened simply by trying harder to believe. It's strengthened as we encounter the truth of who Jesus is.

And in John 4, Jesus explains that true worshipers worship the Father in spirit and in truth.

Those two ideas belong together.

We cannot build a deep relationship with God while remaining disconnected from His Word.

Feelings change. Circumstances shift. Our understanding is limited.

But God's truth gives our faith something solid to stand on.
Sometimes we want a powerful spiritual experience when what we really need is to open our Bibles and allow God to reshape our thinking.

The more we know His Word, the more clearly we understand His character.

And the more deeply we know Him, the more naturally worship becomes our response.

Heart Check
  1. Am I allowing God's Word to shape my beliefs, or am I mostly relying on my feelings?
  2. What would help me become more consistent in listening to Scripture?

A Moment With Jesus
Lord, give me a hunger for Your Word. Strengthen my faith as I learn more about who You are. Help me recognize Your truth and respond with a heart that genuinely worships You. Amen.

Live It Out: Read Romans 10 aloud three times. Pay attention to what it teaches about hearing, believing, and responding.
