Day 18 - Make Some Noise

Psalm 150:3–6 (NLT)

Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn;
    praise him with the lyre and harp!
Praise him with the tambourine and dancing;
    praise him with strings and flutes!
Praise him with a clash of cymbals;
    praise him with loud clanging cymbals.
Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!
Praise the Lord!

Psalm 150 is filled with celebration.

Trumpets. Strings. Cymbals. Dancing. Everything that has breath praising the Lord.

It's a beautiful reminder that worship isn't meant to be lifeless.

God has given us creativity, emotion, movement, and expression.

And all of those things can become ways to honor Him.
But the instruments aren't the center of the psalm.

God is.

The expressions of praise matter because of the One receiving them.

Whether our worship is loud or quiet, simple or elaborate, what matters most is that it comes from a heart turned toward Him.

Heart Check
  1. Do I sometimes focus more on the expression of worship than on God Himself?
  2. Have I allowed fear or self-consciousness to keep me from expressing gratitude to Him?

A Moment With Jesus
Father, thank You for creating us with the ability to express joy and gratitude. Let every expression of my worship point back to You. Amen.

Live It Out: Express your gratitude to God in a way that feels genuine to you.
